Jazz & Creative Institute will be opening its doors from July 29-July 31 for their Summer JazzStart! (for Middle Schoolers), a three-day workshop that will dive deep into the basics and fundamentals of jazz concepts, improvisation, and performing in a small group setting. Whether you’ve always wondered about jazz or you have only played in your big band at school and want to learn more, this is the introduction you’re looking for. All instruments are welcome to join, but we do ask that those applying have a basic to intermediate level of technique on your instrument.

This unique three-day experience will include instruction and direction from some of the top professional jazz performers in the region. Subjects covered will be improvisation, jazz theory, and lots of time playing with other fellow musicians. All students will be pushed to grow to their personal "next" level. The workshop will conclude with a public performance at Jazz & Creative Institute for friends and family.
