Immersion Program

For those who feel ready to go “all in” on music, the combination of private lessons and weekly band rehearsals is the way to go. If you are wondering if this is right for you, please give us a call or let us know in the registration form comments that you’d like to talk about readiness for this program. Discounts for this program are at 20-30% off private lessons or the band program alone because we know how important this program is to the life of a musician.

The immersion program is:

  • A weekly private lesson with an expert on your instrument for 30, 45, or 60 minutes. Our faculty members do not follow predetermined curriculum, but teach each student as an individual. This student-led approach leads to faster learning, a deeper interest in practicing, and a cultivation of each student’s unique musical gifts and talents. And that, is what we think it’s all about.

  • A weekly faculty coached group rehearsal for 60 minutes working on songs and playing technique with two to six musicians. Genre can range from jazz to originals to pop/rock or blues. You may use our equipment as needed (amps, etc.). We will find the right band for you!

  • Monthly faculty-led jam sessions. The 4th Sunday of (almost) every month, Jazz Academy students come together with a “house” band of their teachers in a rich playing and learning environment. Students are coached as they play alongside their teachers and fellow students on the songs they’ve been studying all month. Family, friends, and the public are invited to be part of the audience. 3pm - 4:30pm. Not interested in strictly jazz? Our faculty are well-versed in many genres, including classical, rock and blues.

  • Three performances a year at our student showcases.

Tuition is billed monthly with no contract for your convenience. JCI is open 45 weeks a year and closed seven weeks to accommodate breaks and holidays. We average the price of those 45 lessons over the 12 months and charge accordingly. For bands, we do ask that you commit to three month sessions so repertoire can be developed. Monthly tuition is as follows:
